
Gator Women's Hoops Team ranked among Division III Stats leaders
Indianapolis, IN—With the release of the final NCAA Division III statistics for women's basketball, The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team and some of its members are among the national leaders. The feat is nothing new for Sage's veteran head coach Jackie Craft's team that has continued to rewrite the women's basketball record book at Sage.
Sage's women's team finished the season with an 8-16 mark overall, but the players established a few program high-water marks along the way as well. The Gators won six consecutive games to break the Sage mark for most wins in a row, while also attempting a record 477 three-point baskets with a 69.6% team free throw percentage (No. 2), 664 defensive rebounds (No. 3), 84 blocked shots (No. 3), and 119 three-point field goals made (No. 3).
In the final NCAA rankings, Sage ranks No. 2 in Division III in Team Three-point Field Goal Defense after holding their opponents to a 21.5 3-point field goal percentage, just hundredth of a percentage off the top team in Division III, Knox that held opponents to 20.9%.
Sage also ranked No. 35 in team field goal percentage defense as well (No. 35, 32.5%), while also ranking in the Top 150 in scoring defense (132, 57.2 ppg), free throw percentage (No. 120, 69.6%), and blocked shots per game (No. 144, 3.5 bpg).
Sophomore center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) finished the season ranked No. 69 in the country with her impressive 1.96 blocks per game average. She played in all 24 games this past season, while racking up 47 blocked shots to go with her 6.3 ppg and team-best 7.3 rpg average. She had 173 total rebounds with 127 defensive boards. She continues to add to her active Sage block record that stands at 99 after just two seasons. She is also ranked No. 9 in career free throw percentage (70.7%, 53-75), while also ranking No. 1 and No. 2 in single season blocked shots after breaking the mark a year ago with 52. She was the team's top rebounder 11 times this past season. She ranked No. 69 in the country with her impressive 1.96 blocks per game average.
Sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, NY/Saranac) caps her second season ranked No. 64 in Division III with her 4.2 assists per game average, while standing No. 53 with her 3.09 steals per game average. Bowman paced the team in scoring this season with her 222 points and a 9.7 ppg average. She was the high scorer on nine occasions and also led the Gators with her 97 assists and 71 steals in 23 games played. She wraps two seasons at Sage and has already made a dent in some Gator career marks. She is No. 8 in career assists (177), and No. 15 in career FT% (67.5%, 83-123).
Junior guard Erica Houle (Latham, NY/Shaker) finished her first season in a Sage uniform ranked No. 114 in three-point field goals per game (2.08) and No. 119 in three-point field goal percentage (30.5) with the release of the final NCAA statistics. Houle finished the season ranked third in scoring with an 8.4 ppg average. She led the Gators with her 50 three-pointers, which also ranks No. 4 in single-season performances and puts her at No. 9 on the career list heading into her senior campaign at Sage. She was the high scorer six times this past season and added a 30.5 three-point field goal percentage in 24 games played.
