Tarpey added to Sage's Sports Medicine Team as new assistant athletic trainer
Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' department of athletics has selected Kevin Tarpey (Bayside, NY) as the newest member of the staff as he will serve as an assistant athletic trainer. Tarpey, a 2016 graduate of SUNY Cortland, served the past two years at nearby University at Albany, where he was a graduate assistant in the sports medicine department. While at UAlbany, Tarpey also earned his Master's degree in Educational Policy and Leadership, while covering the Great Danes' women's volleyball and baseball programs.
"I'm really excited to be joining the team at The Sage Colleges this fall," noted Tarpey. He added, "Everyone on the staff is committed and determined to the same mission. It is a great time to be starting at Sage with the recent growth and success of the athletic department, and I can't wait to be a part of it moving forward. Go Gators!"
Sharon Brodie, Sage's Director of Athletic Training said of Kevin, "I am excited for this opportunity to bring Kevin in as part of our sports medicine team."
Tarpey joined the UAlbany athletic training staff as a graduate assistant commencing in 2016 and served in that role for two seasons. Prior to his arrival in Albany, he worked as an undergraduate assistant at SUNY Cortland, working with the men's lacrosse, men's soccer, field hockey and wrestling teams. He also assisted at LeMoyne College, working with the Dolphins' men's soccer team.
In May 2016, he was a research intern with the Geneva Foundation for the NCAA/West Point Concussion Studies. He administered baseline ImPACT and BESS/SAC tests plus Baseline questionnaires/consent forms to over 4,000 cadets at the United States Military Academy.
Tarpey is a member of NATA and is up to date on First Aid and CPR/AED certification. He played club soccer at SUNY Cortland.
Sage's Director of Athletics, Sandy Augstein-Collins talked about Tarpey, remarking, "I am thrilled to announce that Kevin Tarpey will be joining the Sage Athletic Department as one of our Assistant Athletic Trainers." She continued, "His passion for athletic training and his desire to work with Division III student-athletes will make a big impact with the Gators very quickly! I'm looking forward to the impact that he will have on our athletic programs going forward."
