RSC Men's Golf Team Readies for 2023 Empire 8 Spring Championship
Hershey, PA--RSC's men's golf team will compete on April 16 and 16 at the Hershey Country Club as they look to earn the league's championship this weekend.

The final two rounds of the 2022-23 Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship are set to take place from Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA on April 15-16. St. John Fisher University holds a one-stroke lead over defending champion Utica College after the Fall portion of the 2022-23 Empire 8 Championship. Fans can follow along with live individual and team scores from this weekend's championship.
Fall scores will combined with scores from rounds three and four this weekend to determine team and individual awards. The 2022-23 Empire 8 Men's Golf Team Champion earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship, which will take place May 16-19 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, KY. Defending Champion St. John Fisher will look to win its 18th Empire 8 title this season, while Utica will attempt to win its second league crown. Nazareth is the only other E8 institution to win a men's golf championship, earning back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003.
St. John Fisher holds an 18-stroke lead (633) over SUNY Oswego (651) heading into this weekend's action. The 2022-23 Empire 8 Fall Men's Golf Championship was held at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, NY on October 1-2. Utica University, Medaille University, Elmira College, Russell Sage College, Keuka College and Nazareth College are also set to compete this weekend.
Oswego State graduate student Ryan Fecco holds the individual lead, both at +10 over par (154) after the first two rounds. St. John Fisher has the next four lowest rounds, heading into rounds 3-4, with Nick Tellone, Luke Buckley, Benjamin Fox and Joseph DePasquale are all within striking distance of the lead.

AWARDS: The Empire 8 champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. The top five scorers at the end of the tournament (who played in all four rounds) will earn first-team all-conference honors with the next five finishers being named to the second team. Finishers 11-15 will earn third team accolades. The individual with the lowest four-round score will be named Empire 8 Player of the Year, while the lowest scoring first-year student-athlete will earn Empire 8 Rookie of the Year honors.
THE COURSE: The Hershey Country Club was founded by iconic chocolate entrepreneur Milton S. Hershey in 1930. The club has grown since its founding, as the private club now features three separate pristine 18-hole courses. The E8 Championship will feature the club's East Course, which opened in 1969 and lays claim to over 100 bunkers scattered throughout the rolling fairways. The club and its expansive views have welcomed some of the sport's all-time greats, including Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
