ALBANY, N.Y. – Before Friday night's Empire 8 Conference match vs. Elmira, Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball recognized four student-athletes: libero Katelyn Atchinson (Alplaus, NY/Niskayuna/Saint Rose), outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), middle hitter Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson), and setter Emma Rainville (Castleton, NY/Columbia/Binghamton), for their contributions to the program. Those honorees then proceeded to ensure that the Gators picked up an important home victory, with a 3-0 "Senior Night" sweep (25-20, 25-20, 25-15).

Salvione, who started the week ranked in the top-50 nationally in kills, aces, points, aces per-set, kills per-set, and points per-set, topped all players with 16 kills on .583 hitting, while Carius added seven kills.

Rainville, the Conference assist leader, dished out 18 helpers, while Atchinson tallied a match-high eight digs.

RSC (13-11/3-5 E8), which began the week atop the E8 in aces, served up 15 tonight. Salvione registered six, while Rainville recorded four.

Middle hitter Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville/ Keuka), a grad student, contributed five kills on .625 hitting and four total blocks.

Elmira (2-20/0-8 E8) received multiple kills from five different players in the setback.

The Gators, which snapped a four-match slide, host Keuka tomorrow afternoon.

Gator Bites: RSC began the weekend leading Empire 8 Conference with 205 aces and 2.66 aces per-set, good for 43rd and 45th respectively nationally…A dozen players returned to the court in 2024...Salvione, Carius, and junior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) headlined the group…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings added four newcomers including transfers Atchinson and Rainville, to the squad…Cummings was inducted into the SUNY Plattsburgh Athletic Hall of Fame on September 27…Salvione was announced as the E8 Player of the Week for the periods ending Sunday, September 15 and Sunday, September 29…She commenced the week leading the Conference with 352.0 points, 288 kills, 61 aces, 4.6 points per-set, and 0.79 aces per-set…The stats all put the outside hitter in the top-50 nationally in all of those categories, including fourth in the country with 61 aces and 14th with 0.79 aces per-set…She has tallied double-digit kills 16 times and ten double-doubles this fall…Rainville began this week atop the Conference with 638 assists.
