CMSV Tops Gators in Skyline Women's Hoop Play
Albany, NY –The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday evening in the Kahl Gym in a Skyline Conference contest. By game's end, CMSV had tallied a 57-39 win to garner the squad's first Skyline win on the year as they improve to 7-17 overall and 1-12 in the league. The setback puts Sage at 7-15 overall and 4-8 in the conference.
CMSV held a 26-18 lead and was paced by nine first half points by junior guard Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln). By game's end, she had 13 points, while sophomore forward Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) had a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds with five blocked shots.
Freshman guard Yen Pham (Queens, NY/Manhattan Center for Science and Health) added 10 points, with eight coming in the second half.
In the second half Sage made a run at the Dolphins and pulled within three points (28-25 at the 16:18 mark), but could not get any closer. CMSV finished with a 49-39 edge on the boards, while Sage held them to just 10.0% from three-point range (1-10).
For the Gators, sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, NY/Saranac) racked up 15 points with seven rebounds and three steals. Sophomore guard Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added nine points, while handing out three assists. Sophomore center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie South) added eight points with five rebounds.
Sage returns to action on Thursday, February 14 travelling to St. Joseph's (LI) for a 5 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.
